Does Hypochlorous™ disinfect or sanitize?

Yes! Hypochlorous™ has been independently tested and is officially EPA registered as a disinfectant that kills 99.9% of a broad spectrum of both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including Norovirus, Salmonella, Staph, MRSA, Listeria, Influenza A & Pseudomonas when used as directed. The EPA has registered and approved Hypochlorous (™) for disinfecting and sanitizing hospitals, ICUs, NICU’s schools, daycares, veterinary clinics and more. The EPA registration number is 97801-1. To secure federal EPA registration, a product is tested using EPA required anti-microbial testing protocols over multiple lots. Suppliers, purity, concentration & processing of all individual ingredients have to be approved, with strict statistical limits on all.

Does Hypochlorous(tm) kill the Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19?

We are on the EPA’s N-list of Disinfectants for Use Against SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19. The EPA has invoked the Emerging Viral Pathogen policy, where disinfectants can be included on List N because they: 1. Demonstrate efficacy against a harder-to-kill virus; or 2. Demonstrate efficacy against another type of human coronavirus similar to SARS-CoV-2.

Hypochlorous(tm) is approved for use against SARS-CoV-2 because it has proven efficacy killing 99.9999% of the Human Coronavirus. Refer to the CDC website for additional information.

Does Hypochlorous(tm) kill the variants of SARS-CoV-2?

In 2022, Hypochlorous(tm) was added to the EPA’s List N, the disinfectants approved for use against SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19. Per the EPA, “EPA expects all products on List N to kill all strains and variants of SARS-CoV-2. Genetic changes to the virus do not impact the efficacy of disinfectants. List N disinfectants work by chemically inactivating viruses. The difficulty of killing a virus depends on its physical features, and the recent mutations to SARS-CoV-2 have not changed the basic physical properties.” EPA info here.

Hypochlorous(tm) is approved for use against SARS-CoV-2 because it has proven efficacy killing 99.9999% of the Human Coronavirus. Refer to the CDC website for additional information.

Yes! Our All-in-One Additive formula has you covered for just about any greasy, grimy, sticky, stinky mess that comes your way. Stinky odors are caused from bacteria on the skin, fur, feathers, fabrics or surface and Hypochlorous(tm) kills these smelly germs.

Does Hypochlorous™ actually work?

Yes! Hypochlorous(tm) actually works! We spray and compare our product every week (using ATP Professional Testing) against the most popular and widely used disinfecting products used in every business, farm, food processing, hospital and home around the world. Our products, our formulas, and innovative technologies are removing harmful chemicals we/animals breathe, touch and ingest with a safe, natural and eco-friendly Hypochlorous(tm) solution; which in a few short months, the EPA certified it kills 99.9% of bacteria and 99.9999% viruses, including the Coronavirus. Where are the directions for using the Hypochlorous™ Station?

They are included in your Station Starter Kits. You can download our Instruction Manual Guide by contacting us here.

Does Hypochlorous(tm) meet OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogens Standards?
Yes – Hypochlorous(tm) meets surface disinfection requirements for OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogens Standards.
Does Hypochlorous™ kill mold & mildew?
Yes, Hypochlorous(tm) kills mold & fungus more effectively than bleach & prevents it from returning.
Does Hypochlorous™ kill bacteria?

Yes! Hypochlorous(tm) kills bacteria and is an EPA registered disinfectant that is more effective than bleach that’s registered for use in hospitals, ICUs, schools, daycares and more. It kills 99.999% of bacteria and 99.9999% viruses.

(There is a mathematical/statistical rationale that the EPA is now imposing that limits the reported kill rate of bacteria to only 99.9% rather than the 99.999% that was reported by our EPA lab. The statistical argument actually stems from the EPA’s own required efficacy testing protocol wherein they are seeking to better statistically account for the error that is introduced by the use of their own required method. Going forward, no one who follows the EPA protocols will ever be able to report a bacterial kill rate that is higher than 99.9% because of the uncertainly introduced by the EPA’s protocol. However the EPA protocol for measuring kill rates of viruses is more robust and will be able to be reported at the 99.9999% efficacy that was reported by our EPA certified lab.)

What are the usage directions for disinfecting?
Spray Hypochlorous(tm) on the surface until it’s thoroughly wet, let sit for 10 minutes, then let air dry or wipe the surface with a

clean microfiber towel. Most people don’t realize that the disinfectants you buy at the store typically have a 5-10 minute dwell time, and that you need to pre-clean the surface. Carefully read the Usage instructions on all cleaning labels before using.

Does Hypochlorous(tm) kill germs?
Yes! Hypochlorous(tm) kills 99.9% of germs* when used as directed, even Salmonella, Norovirus, Listeria, STAPH, MRSA, Pseudomonas & Influenza A.
Is Hypochlorous(tm) cruelty-free?
Yes. Hypochlorous(tm) is cruelty-free and our solutions offer the same healthy benefits humans receive from our products.
Is Hypochlorous(tm) Green Seal certified?

No. But we are USDA Organic certified by an approved Certifier of the federal government. We do adhere to the Green Seal sustainability 4 area standards: protecting human health, preserving the climate, ensuring clean water, and minimizing waste. We are also EPA list n approved.

Is Hypochlorous(tm) USDA Organic certified?
Yes! Our products are USDA Organic certified.
What is the difference between Disinfecting and Sanitizing?
The EPA recognizes three categories: Cleaners, Sanitizers, and Disinfectants. Cleaning removes gross soil and may remove some microbial contamination. Sanitizing kills bacteria at minimum rate of 99.9% within a specific time-frame, but may or may not destroy viruses or fungus. Disinfectants are the highest level recognized by the EPA because they kill bacteria to at least a 99.9% kill rate and they also kill viruses and fungus, mold, and mildew on hard, non-porous surfaces within a specified period of time. The Hypochlorous™ products have all been registered by the EPA and certified to the highest standards of Disinfecting, in accordance with EPA definitions of the same.
Does it work with hard water or well water?
Yes, Hypochlorous Company produces specific Additives for typical Well Water or Municipal Water and also for Water that has been filtered through a Reverse Osmosis system, and even for Distilled Water. Please indicate the source of water for your Hypochlorous™ Station at the time of ordering. Contact us (link to contact us page)if you think you need a special Hypochlorous(tm) additive made for your hard water or well water. Our Hypochlorous(tm) Science Laboratory will take a sample of your water and formulate the correct Additive to generate: pure, stable and perfectly pH balanced Hypochlorous(tm) aqueous solution.
Can I add my own fragrance or essential oils to Hypochlorous(tm)?
NO, NO, and NO! Hypochlorous(tm) is a stand alone product and you should not mix any fragrances or essential oils or any other chemicals to this product. That especially includes not mixing with other cleaning products. This

is a stand alone product and should not be mixed with other products. Read label directions carefully before use.

Why is the Hypochlorous(tm) solution rated by the EPA to have a shelf life of 4 months?
The EPA requires stability studies be conducted by third-party independent laboratories following a storage protocol that does not actually reflect real-world usage conditions. The protocol requires that the product be stored outdoors and subjected to outdoor ambient temperatures experienced in the location of the third-party laboratory, whether they be freezing outside in cold winter weather or extreme heat in hot summer weather. In our case, the testing protocol was conducted during the summer of August 2021 where outdoor temperatures exceeded 100 degrees Fahrenheit. This excessive heat accelerated the rate of hypochlorous degradation leading to a laboratory determination of a 4 month shelf life. When label instructions are followed to store the product indoors within the normally regulated range of indoor temperatures, the actual shelf life of the product will normally be between 8 and 12 months.
Can I use Hypochlorous(tm) to clean my hands?
Yes. Hypochlorous(tm) makes for a great hand wash medium. It has no skin allergens or irritants so you don’t need to rinse it off and is hypoallergenic.
Is it easy to make with your generators?

simple as

1. Simply pour in the premeasured additive bottle

2. Add water to the fill line

3. plug in/set the remote to the directed time for your station size/concentration.

Is the Station instruction manual included in the Starter Kit? Yes. You can find a copy here.

Product Use

On what types of surfaces can I use Hypochlorous(tm) on?
Hypochlorous may be safely used on any surface that is water-safe, including porcelain, tile, vinyl, marble, quartz, granite, decorative metals including bronze and copper, glass and mirrors, wood, painted surfaces, leather and water- safe upholstery and water-safe fabrics.
Is Hypochlorous(tm) safe on stone?
Yes
Are there any cleaning surfaces where I can’t use Hypochlorous(tm)?
Yes, Hypochlorous™ should not be used on surfaces that can be damaged by water. For example, paper is damaged by water, and some fabrics, such as fine silks are also damaged and stained by water alone. Hypochlorous should not be used on any surface that is not water-safe.
Are there any cleaning jobs where I can't use Hypochlorous(tm)?
Yes, there are certain cleaning jobs where Hypochlorous™ may not be the best choice. Hypochlorous™ should not be used for any cleaning jobs where the surface could be damaged by water alone. For example, paper is damaged by water, and some fabrics, such as fine silks are also damaged and stained by water alone. Hypochlorous™ is also not the best choice to use to remove stains such as rust or heavy oil stains, because it does not have any whiteners nor does it contain detergents to help lift the oily residue. Hypochlorous is a good universal cleaner and degreaser, but for very heavy grease and oil it works best to remove the majority of grease and oils using a detergent first.

The upside of this is that you can use Hypochlorous ™

on rugs & carpets, where it’s as effective as store bought rug and carpet products, but without harmful chemicals and also without detergents which attract dirt to carpets. Always first test for color- fastness in an inconspicuous spot & let dry before proceeding.

Because Hypochlorous(tm) doesn’t have drying accelerants like ammonia-based or alcohol-based cleaners, we recommend always cleaning with a clean cloth or microfiber towel and wiping until the surface is 100% dry. When used this way, Hypochlorous(tm) is as effective on glass and mirrors. When using Hypochlorous(tm) on glass, brass or copper, wipe until the surface is thoroughly dry. Hypochlorous(tm) shouldn’t be left on soft metals or marble for a long period of time but should be dried after use.

Can I use the typical cleaning implements I typically use when I clean?
Yes – you can use the same sponges, scrub brushes, towels or paper towels you currently use. Just be careful not to mix other cleaning chemicals with Hypochlorous™. For best results we recommend using a microfiber towel when cleaning.
Does it leave behind any kind of film or residue?
Hypochlorous ™ is made from natural minerals that are dissolved in the water, and if left to evaporate there can be a mineral film that is left on shiny surfaces such as mirrors, windows or stainless steel. But if the surface is thoroughly dried after use, using dry microfiber towels or paper towels, there will be no remaining residue.
Does it work with hard water or well water?
Yes, you can make Hypochlorous Solution using the Hypochlorous Station with hard water or well water. Just be sure to specify that you will need the Additive formulated for Well Water when you place your order.
Is Hypochlorous(tm) safe for septic systems?

That depends on how much Hypochlorous ™ solution that you pour into a septic system. The normal Hypochlorous ™ solution at a concentration of 200 ppm is quite dilute (99.998% water) and the bacterial

load in a septic system is so high that small, incidental amounts of Hypochlorous poured down the drain into a septic system will not have any significant effect on the operation of the septic system. However, if you have a septic system you should avoid pouring large volumes (5 gallons or more) or Hypochlorous ™ Solution into a septic system.

My Hypochlorous Station isn't working properly - can you help?

Please contact us by calling (800) 732-7103 or emailing us at support@hoclpro.com. We are here to help!

Can I reuse the spray bottles?

Yes – We encourage it!

Always use Hocl in opaque bottles

How do I properly store my Station? Do I need to rinse it out when I'm done using it?
After using your Station, remove the Activator from the Hypochlorous ™ Solution and allow the Activator to dry.

The product that you have made should be stored in an opaque bottle or container that was supplied with your Station, and the containers are best placed in a dark cupboard or closet and kept at room temperature. The Station container itself can be stored in any convenient location and does not need to be rinsed after use.

How It’s Different

What makes Hypochlorous(tm) different from other natural or green cleaners?

There are no other natural or green cleaners that are also formulated to be effective disinfectants. Hypochlorous ™ Solution is the only Hypochlorous cleaning and disinfectant product on the market today that is certified USDA Organic. We are also epa registered and List N approved.

How is Hypochlorous(tm) better than just making a DIY cleaner with salt and vinegar?
There are several companies that are advertising DIY Hypochlorous machines that claim to make

hypochlorous solution using just salt and vinegar. The problem with this DIY approach is that just using tap water, salt and vinegar does not provide a final product pH that will guarantee or optimize the concentration of hypochlorous in the solution.

Hypochlorous is a weak acid that at a lower pH can form chlorine gas and at a high pH can form diluted bleach — neither of which is a good outcome for the user. So achieving the correct pH is critical to the safety and performance of the hypochlorous solution as a cleaner and disinfectant. In addition to achieving the correct pH of the product, the final solution needs to maintain that pH over time. In order to maintain the correct pH level the solution will typically need various pH buffers to assure stability of the pH levels. And finally, the use of salt and vinegar will inherently lead to a rapid degradation and reversion of the hypochlorous molecule back to a dilute solution of salt and vinegar. The shelf life of most DIY products can range from a few hours to a few days. In contrast, the Hypochlorous ™ Additive used to make Hypochlorous ™ Solution from a Hypochlorous ™ Station uses high purity ingredients formulated to produce the optimal HOCl concentration, the optimal pH levels, with the necessary, natural pH buffers in place to assure that the concentration and pH are maintained for optimal cleaning and disinfection performance for months, instead of hours or day. The Hypochlorous ™ Additive used with the Hypochlorous ™ Station will produce a Hypochlorous ™ Solution that is chemically identical to the Hypochlorous Solution that has been rigorously tested by independent, third-party laboratories and has been registered and approved by the United States EPA as a safe and effective disinfectant with a shelf life of a minimum of four months.

Does vinegar kill viruses?

No, vinegar is ineffecitve against most viruses and bacteria.

Is this the same as diluted bleach?
No, diluted bleach consists of 99.9% sodium hypochlorite and 0.1% hypochlorous acid with a solution pH of 12-13. Hypochlorous ™ Solution consists of 99.9% pure hypochlorous acid and 0.1% sodium hypochlorite at a near- neutral pH.
Why hasn’t this been done before?
Hypochlorous acid was discovered in the 1800’s but the cleaning and disinfecting properties were not fully understood until the early 1900’s. Hypochlorous acid was used to irrigate and disinfect wounds in World War I and World War II but its use was not widespread mainly because of the very short shelf life of the product at that time. It is only in the last several years that advancements made by The Hypochlorous Company and others have enabled the shelf life of the product to be extended to multiple months, rather than hours or days. Other companies make Hypochlorous Generators that use sensors and process control algorithms that seek to control the variables in hypochlorous production to provide a stable, consistent product output. The results of this process control approach are often inconsistent and the equipment to manufacture the product in this way is quite expensive. The Hypochlorous Company has taken a different approach by eliminating the variability of the production parameters by making the variables constant. The same volume of water, the same volume and formulation of additive, using the same Activator with the same voltage and current flow make a consistent Hypochlorous ™ product with the same concentration and pH output, time after time, without variability and without the need to use expensive sensors and process control algorithms.

The result is the lowest cost, most consistent, and most effective

Hypochlorous ™ Solution available on the market today.
